Gubi

The Gubi company began its activity in 1967, it was founded by the spouses Gubi and Lisbeth Olsen. They marked the beginning of a new history of the development of Scandinavian furniture. The design is based on the national heritage, combined with the traditions of European masters of other countries. Such an intercontinental concept is adhered to to this day.

The very first collection of Gubi furniture was called the Olsen Collection. It included a small number of sofas, banquettes and ottomans, and in 1991 it was replenished with an armchair. In 2002, the company was headed by the son of the founders, and after that big changes began. The company took a course in the contract direction, and then connected famous designers to cooperation. Already in 2004, the GUBI Chair was added to the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and in 2015 the brand was awarded the Innovation of the Year award.

The brand's products are presented all over the world and on all continents. The leading factories are located in the UK, Denmark and Estonia. This fact once again proves the brand's international leadership in the segment of industrial design and manufacture of furniture for home and commercial premises. The collection of Bestlite lamps in the spirit of the Bauhaus was developed by British designer Robert Dudley Best. Winston Churchill chose one of these desk lamps for his study, and some of the devices were used by mechanics in the engineering department of the Royal Air Force.

Many classic models of the 50s by Greta Grossman have become icons of the twentieth century. Therefore, technologists have upgraded them to meet modern requirements, leaving the recognizable design intact. Among them are Cobra lamps in the shape of a snake's head and Multi–lite with many combinations of the ceiling. Chests of drawers and desks "62 series" were actually created in 1952. But the collection received such a number, because already in those years it was believed that this furniture was 10 years ahead of its time.

Another iconic line in the showroom in Moscow is the legendary Beetle chairs. The GamFratesi design duo was inspired to create them by the natural environment, namely, the bizarre shapes and shells of insects. In the silhouette of the furniture, you can see with the naked eye the author's interpretation of the elements of the anatomy of beetles. In collaboration with GamFratesi, the company has also released a spectacular biomorphic Sejour chair, the concept of which refers to the Beetle. It is based on an interesting game of contrasts: hard and soft, massive and light.
