Who knows what Carlo Mollino would be capable of today, with access to carbon fibers or other composite materials, if in the 1950s he could create, using only solid wood and skilled artisans, slender and thin structures? Complex shapes, but once understood, can surprise thanks to the constructive perfection of the mechanism in which each element is connected to each other, combining through precise (and non-standard) systems of metal connections. Real masterpieces, such as the Reale table, are created using a compact transparent frame decorated with a glass tabletop that seems to frame it. In the mid-eighties, Zanotta came across the works of Carlo Mollino and began producing some pieces of furniture created by this eclectic architect from Turin. Critically rejecting international stylistic theories, Mollino proposed a new poetic language, preferring organic and sentimental forms and the use of natural materials such as wood. Mollino's works are a concentrate of imagination and irony. In 1990, Zanotta edited the Reale line, developed in 1947 for the offices of the insurance company Reale Mutua in Turin. With the release of Reale, Zanotta ensures the continuity of the research undertaken to extract objects from the past, presenting key moments in the history of architecture and Italian design. The table top is made of transparent sheet glass 15 mm thick, with or without beveled edges, or made of Emperador marble 20 mm thick, with a protective varnish against stains, made of transparent matte polyester. Frame made of solid natural or black lacquered oak or oak painted in Canaletto walnut; wax varnish.
